An interactive map with interactive selection of your form of transport is available below:
At your arrival, you should register at the reception: it is situated on the first floor of the John Britten building (formerly the NZi3 building). Enter the building on the ground floor and come up the stairs to the HIT Lab.
Otherwise, detailed instructions follow:
The closest Airport is Christchurch International Airport. If you want to rent a car more information here. Follow the blue line (map) and see instructions to park in the By Car section below. You can catch the bus line that will conduct you in the city center (see therefore the next section for coming by Bus from the City to the Lab). You can also get a Taxi to come directly at the lab (around 20 dollars), taxi drivers will easily know the direction to University. The closest parking to be drop off is the one in front of the physics building, accessible by Creyke Road, Engineering Road entry from University (tick Taxi on the map above, and the drop off is the bottom yellow car icon).
You can easily get a Bus from the city but also from the Airport. The bus passing/coming from the city center are painted in Red. The bus stops for the 3, 21 (red bus) and the "orbiter" (green bus) are marked with a red track on the map (you have just to follow the track a couple of minutes to reach the lab). The "Metrostar" (orange bus) is marked with the orange track.
More detailed information about the bus lines and timetable is available on the the university website here.
If you are UoC staff the best parking is the one in front of the Physics building, accessible by Creyke Road, Engineering Road entry from University. If you are a visitor you need to park in one of the visitor parking and ask a coupon from the security office. The closest parking is the Engineering Parking, purple area on the map below (park and come to the lab we can give you information about the coupon).
You can easily come at the lab by bike, and it's highly recommended !!! Different stands are available to park your bike on the south side of the HIT Lab building (green spot closed to the lab on the map below). There is also a secure area for UoC students (you need your UoC card).
The lab is easy to find if you come from an extrasolar planet. It's in the middle of New Zealand, easily identifiable by the magnificent landscapes and peaceful people. We are based on the blue planet in the middle of the solar system. Take care with your UFO when you are landing, they are lot of ducks in the river in front of the Building. Don't forget also to ask a coupon for visitor parking.
